I pulled out two adjacent chairs and sat side by side with Ji Dongmei at the conference table, trying to make the interview casual. Even so, I still felt embarrassed. I was used to laughing and slapping at ordinary times, and suddenly I felt so serious and identified.

Being afraid of work means being serious and dedicated.

Ji Dongmei studied electrical automation, but after graduation, she never worked in a 'proper business'. Before joining South Huaxi, she sold air tickets, worked as a real estate agent, opened a small shop and sold children's clothes. How rich her personal experience was?

In May, 2005, Ji Dongmei joined South West China under the introduction of her classmates. Although it still has little to do with her major, at least she has touched the edge. From the budget officer to the head, deputy manager and manager of the budget department, and then to the manager of the Ministry of Commerce, it is fourteen years.

After joining the company, Ji Dongmei was first arranged to be familiar with production and components in the workshop. In just one week, the notes were filled with a large book. She has kept this notebook until now. Open the notebook, 14 years have passed, the paper has turned yellow, but the handwriting is still clear, recording the names, brands and prices of various components, and drawing a lot of pictures, recording in detail the production technology and component layout of various distribution boxes.

Chairman Mao said that the word 'earnest' is the only fear in the world. With this serious effort, she graduated in a week after a one-month workshop internship.

Conscientiousness and dedication are often twin brothers. Besides being serious, Ji Dongmei is a dedicated person.

In 2014, in the twentieth year of the establishment of South China West, the company's performance was blowout, and all departments began to wind up, especially the budget department, and the workload doubled. Although the manpower was supplemented, it still could not meet the needs of the work. So overtime has become the norm, and when it comes to large-scale bidding, you have to stay up all night. This normalized overtime has continued from 2014 to the present without interruption. I just joined Nanhuaxi in 2014 and was arranged to order food for them in the evening. Over the past few years, I have witnessed all their busyness and hard work. During this period, Ji Dongmei, who has been the manager of the budget department, has set an example, and she basically works overtime every day.

Moreover, what is more commendable is that under the leadership of Ji Dongmei, even in the face of such heavy work pressure, colleagues in the budget department are always optimistic, and colleagues in the department are friendly and harmonious, laughing and smiling, showing a vigorous, positive and happy team.

Everything starts from the overall situation.

There is a popular saying recently: liking a person begins with face value, falling into talent and being loyal to character. To paraphrase this sentence, the company started from the relationship with Ji Dongmei, stuck in seriousness and dedication, and was loyal to the overall view.

Ji Dongmei entered the company through the introduction of her classmates, and was recognized by the company because of her seriousness and dedication. But what really made her stand out and made the company entrust her with a heavy responsibility was her overall view in her work.

In enterprises, people can be roughly divided into three categories: one is people who can't even do their own things well; Second, people who try to do their own thing well; Third, people who can proceed from the overall situation and really solve problems. Ji Dongmei belongs to the third category.

What is the overall situation? In terms of space, this is a question about the whole, and in terms of time, this is a question about the future. Starting from the overall situation means starting from the overall interests and future interests.

However, on the one hand, people are self-interested, and we are always used to looking at problems from our own perspective, only considering our own convenience; On the other hand, people are all lazy, always eager to save trouble in front of them, and unwilling to worry about the future. The valuable thing about Ji Dongmei is that she can jump out of personal and immediate interests and start from the whole company and the future to find, think and solve problems.

For example, in the choice of quotation tools, South Huaxi was founded in 1995, and experienced the handwritten quotation stage. With the popularization of computers, it began to use quotation software to make quotations. Quoting software is quick and easy for budget staff, but the final data needs to be imported into Excel for post-processing. In order to respond to customer requirements and adjust prices, clerks need to spend a lot of time pulling formulas and adjusting formats. With the maturity of the market environment, customers' requirements are becoming more and more detailed, and the demand for quotation is getting higher and higher, and the workload of clerks is getting heavier and heavier. After Ji Dongmei became the head of the budget department, he gave up the quotation software and adopted Excel to quote. Although Excel is a popular office software, its flexibility and powerful functions are incomparable with other quotation software. However, Ji Dongmei still saw the shortcomings. First, Excel has no special design for a certain industry, so the quotation efficiency is low, and the workload of budget staff is increased, which is easy to make mistakes. Second, the model of components used by the budget officer is not standardized when quoting, which increases the work pressure of the follow-up departments. Third, the design of quotation template is too simple to completely solve the problem of clerk price adjustment. So Ji Dongmei began to wonder if there is a way to balance the quickness of the software and the flexibility of Excel. In fact, the above problems affect other departments, whether it is the business price adjustment or the work pressure of the follow-up departments. If it is better to do more than one thing from the personal interests, why bother to think about the problems of other departments; In terms of immediate benefits, this quotation method has been followed for so many years, and it is also the last choice of the company after various attempts. Although there are often some problems, they are all minor problems, far from the point where they can't go on, so why bother to find another way to change it? But Ji Dongmei didn't think so. She just instinctively hoped to fundamentally solve these problems in the company.

Through continuous thinking and research, Ji Dongmei finally built a quotation platform that meets the company's needs by using functional operation and the powerful functions of Excel, and sacrificed countless holidays and rest time to establish a huge database, standardized the models and prices of all commonly used components, and coded each component; At the same time, considering the data archiving and settlement functions, the efficiency of related work has been improved, the error rate has been reduced, and the price adjustment problem of commercial clerks has been completely solved, and the complaints from the technical department about the nonstandard quotation models of components have also been greatly reduced.

As Ji Dongmei said, the work of each department of the company is interrelated and influenced by each other. If we only emphasize doing our own thing from our own point of view, we can't really do it well.

In addition to the quotation platform, she has also made changes in many other aspects, many of which are innovative.

For example, through the establishment of project file management, the quotation, drawings and other information of the project are completely corresponding, which ends the chaotic state of drawing and information management and solves the problems of repeated drawing by clerks, repeated quotation by budget staff and difficulty in finding drawings by technical department. In the past, colleagues in the technical department went to the shared disk to find the drawings themselves. Faced with complicated drawings, it was time-consuming and laborious to find them, and it was easy to find the wrong ones, leading to orders and production errors. Now, it saves the time for the technical department to find the drawing, and also solves the problem of finding the wrong drawing. Which drawing is needed, the budget clerk can immediately transfer it to him.

Another example is settlement. Nanhuaxi and the salesmen are partners, and the salesmen are all order shareholders of the company. After the order is completed, the salesmen need to collect data, reconcile and sort out information themselves, and find customers to settle accounts, which is also the embodiment of the spirit of order shareholders. At the beginning, because there were not many orders and the customer's requirements were not high, the salesman could still cope. With the development of the company, the number of orders from salesmen is increasing, so it is a bit difficult to deal with it. The focus of salesman's work is still in the market, so they have no time, no energy, and no expertise. In addition, the company's information and drawings management is not perfect, and the data is missing, so it is difficult to clean up the accounts, which seriously affects the settlement progress and the speed of payment collection. In order to solve this problem, Ji Dongmei standardized the process, established a complete feedback control system for order tracking, data archiving and data verification, ensured the accuracy and completeness of data in all links, and changed the historical situation that the company had no complete data and was difficult to settle accounts due to the lack of communication and fragmented departments. Moreover, due to the standardized process, the reconciliation is no longer complicated, and the ordering, quotation, data sorting, reconciliation and settlement can be carried out simultaneously, which greatly shortens the settlement time and improves the work efficiency.

Due to Ji Dongmei's initiative and overall thinking, as well as some changes she made in the company's business management, at the end of 2017, the company integrated the Ministry of Commerce and the Budget Department, and formally appointed her as the manager of the Ministry of Commerce to co-ordinate the management of the company's business and budget work.

Love outdoors, the counterattack from rookie to old donkey

Due to busy work and long-term lack of exercise, Ji Dongmei's weight began to increase uncontrollably. Once, when I grabbed the elevator for lunch, Ji Dongmei stepped into the elevator, and the elevator gave a miserable cry. When she stepped out of the elevator, I ducked behind and squeezed into the elevator. The elevator closed the door without saying a word and went straight to the ground floor. The elevator immediately burst into unbridled laughter ... Until now, she is still full of hatred for me.

In order to lose weight, Ji Dongmei stepped up her exercise. One day, Ji Dongmei took part in an outdoor activity with a colleague of the company and went back to work the next day. As a result, it was difficult to get down the stairs, so she had to hold the railing, walk backwards with her back, and even fell down on the railing. To this end, it also attracted a ruthless ridicule from colleagues. Everyone thought that she wouldn't have a second time. Unexpectedly, a week later, she set off again, and from then on, she was out of control. In recent years, she has basically been outdoors two or three times a month.

I used to despise her. When the company organized mountaineering activities, I automatically put her in the old, weak, sick and disabled group. But before you know it, she suddenly became one of the best outdoor powerhouses in the company. On one occasion, they organized a trip across Qiniang Mountain and Maliao River, and several colleagues from the company signed up for it, so I decided to have a look.

We set out at seven o'clock and started to walk across at nine o'clock. We only walked a section of the coastline, and before we officially started climbing, other colleagues were a little tired and afraid to quit, so she and I were the only ones who kept going. We climbed cliffs, jumped rocks, crossed grass, walked through dense forests, drilled shrubs, and climbed steep slopes almost without stopping. We reached the top of the mountain in the dark, and then climbed numerous hills, until we got down at 11: 30 in the evening. Fourteen hours, dozens of kilometers of super-strength weight-bearing March, I thought I was as light as a swallow and the strongest donkey on the surface of the earth, but she walked down all the way unscathed. I admire her persistence and perseverance.
